White Bedroom Design — Create a New Mood for Your Bedroom!
A white bedroom can be a stark contrast to all the other colors in a room, but it doesn’t have to be. Mix in natural elements into your white bedroom decorating scheme and you can really add that “quick” factor without sacrificing that clean, crisp white look. Rich, wide-ranging woods or deep-cloth hanging baskets add a beautiful contrast to the bold white color theme in this area while still giving off a touch of color to taper the boldness a little. Add some rich velvet curtains and some tastefully decorated throw pillows for added drama. You can pull the effect off with very little work. Use accent rugs or area rugs on high traffic areas to pick up on the darker side of the room and bring in a contrasting accent color.
Fitting wall accent pieces
Accent Pieces High on the walls, a painting or two may be enough to bring a little color into the room, especially if the painting is a relatively neutral piece. Bold contrasting artwork or prints work especially well when placed on an upper story in your white bedroom. Another great idea is a large, low cabinet that is the focal point of the room, with an area rug or area cushions on the floor below it.

Patterned Area Rugs If you have a lot of area rugs, you can use them as accessories to accent pieces or create your own patterned backsplash. Try using one rug in the middle of a long, narrow table, then another rug on the opposite side of the room. If you want to keep the color palette simple, choose one solid rug and an area rug that are a different color from it. For example, if your white bedroom has a blue undertone, choose a patterned rug that has a paler shade of blue. The same idea works if you have a very dark smoky color scheme in your bedroom: choose a pale blue rug for an accent, then a darker, floral-patterned rug as the focus.
Add a lovely touch of color to the bedroom
Accents A bedroom with few touches of color, however, can seem stark. Add just a few accent pieces to bring the room together. A bed runner, a vase, or an ornamental throw can be enough to pull together a colorful space. Keep in mind, however, that if you choose an accent piece too close to the white walls, it can actually destroy the eye appeal of the room. A piece that is too far away also draws attention away from the primary colors in the room, such as the bedding and the walls, so keep this in mind as you choose your accents.

Accents that Work Both ways A bedroom can have both bold and subtle accents, so it’s a great choice to have both. Accents that are very strong can serve as a focal point and provide the viewer with a feeling of solidity. Soft elements like throws and curtains can be used to pull together the look by lending visual depth and giving the room color. Accents like wrought iron can give your walls a worn or antique look and have the effect of gently caressing the eyes. Either way, both these accents can easily be used to build a color palette that can take the room from plain to dramatic.
Best wallpaper selection
Wallpapers Choosing a wallpaper that adds texture to the walls can add interest and create visual interest. Adding black and white photos is a great idea, or adding wallpaper that features floral designs is also a nice idea. The best wallpapers tend to be the ones that use the colors of the room, which helps them to match the colors of the accents as well as the bedding and the walls.
Color Palette The easiest way to build a color palette for a white bedroom in a neutral tone is to go with the color of the walls and the bedding, but choose contrasting elements to break up the monotony. The accent furniture should be in light tones of the same color as the walls, and the accessories should be in neutral colors as well. Again, the textures you use in this design should be a texture that frames the design of the room without overpowering it. Examples of great textures to include are textured wallpaper and velvet curtains. Textures such as these will add texture while maintaining a very clean look that is very important to any bedroom design.

Natural Lighting Another great thing about a white bedroom is that it will look great with a natural light source. Overhead lighting will work very well and placing lamps on the ceiling will also help to reflect natural light and add drama to the room. Remember, natural lightroom will be one where there is little or no artificial lighting, and that will allow you to enjoy your time in the bedroom more than in a dark room where you must rely on artificial light to see. A good rule of thumb is to aim for about one foot of distance from any object in the room that needs a light, to avoid areas where the eye is more sensitive to light.
